Intel is getting ready to flood the market with X38 chipsets. OC Workbench writes motherboard makers are getting ready to unleash their Intel X38 chipset based motherboards in August.
Although AMD has acquired ATi, ATi's CrossFire is presumably supported on the X38 chipset just like the older Intel based chipsets.

Early talks of opening up SLI to Intel chipsets didn't seem to materialised. It looks like if you want to use SLI, you go for NF 680i chipset, otherwise, you go for CrossFire with Intel X38 or 975X chipset.
