iPhone widgets run on Symbian smartphones too

The Inq reports widgets for the Apple iPhone run on Symbian smartphones too because the two platform's browsers share the same base code:
According to Symbian's Bruce Carney, that's because the AppleSafari browser and Nokia's Series 60 browser share the same base code.

To demonstrate the validity of this claim, Carney showed assembled journalists his Nokia N95 surfing on to the recently created Iphone site, Launchrz.

He then happily used one of the widgets to play a Sudoko game, Sudoko4phone. This is very good news for the mobile software developers community who should find that a whole range of applications they've created can be happily ported over the Iphone.
