Intel X6800 CPU overclocked to 5.85GHz

Swedish overclocker elmor set a new record by overclocking his Core 2 X6800 processor from 2.93GHz to 5854.6MHz with the help of some LN2 which chilled the chip to -150°C.

Here's a look at the test system he used:
  • ASUS P5W64 WS Pro vcore+vmem+vmch+ovp mods
  • X6800 L624A609
  • 2x1GB Mushkin XP2-8500 1:1 3-3-3-5
  • S3 Trio64+ PCI gfx
  • Silverstone Zeus 850W
  • Cooled by Mousepot Rev 3, performed on Dimastech Benchtable.

    Nice, I wonder if someone will be able to break the 6GHz barrier with a Core 2 chip.
