AMD RS780 to feature Hybrid CrossFire?

We already knew that NVIDIA is planning to unveil chipsets which feature Hybrid SLI but it seems that AMD is also working on a similar technology. According to OCW's sources the AMD RS780 chipset will feature "Hybrid CrossFire" support.

This technology will make your onboard graphics solution work together with a discrete graphics card. While this may not sound as exciting as a GeForce 8800 Ultra SLI system it should offer some nice performance boosts for the entry-level and mainstream market.

An article at OCZ two weeks ago claimed NVIDIA's Hybrid SLI may offer performance boosts of 5-40% for low and mid-range graphics cards. The technology will also benefit high-end graphics card users, but the performance boost will obviously be much much smaller.
