40 VIA employees jump to ASUS

Industry sources claim VIA's VP and general manager of platform business Chewei Lin along with 40 technicians from the firm's chipset research team left the company to join IC designer ASMedia, which is a subsidiary of Asustek.
Lin decided to leave VIA because the company is being squeezed by companies like Intel, AMD and Nvidia plus the fact that the future of VIA's chipset product line is uncertain, according to the sources.

VIA stated that it has not hear of any group resignation and added that it is normal for employees to leave after a reorganization. VIA announced a corporate restructuring into three core business groups in November of 2006.
