YouTube to shoot itself in the foot?

Patrick Walter from Google announced that they will really start to monetize YouTube next year by running 30-second advertisements before content is viewed.

The firm says they will share the advertising revenue with the broadcaster but so far limited details are available on how Google will implement this. It's not clear if users will be able to skip the ads.
