Old Zune gets all the new features too

Good news for people who bought the first-generation Zune (now renamed to Zune 30) as Microsoft announced that all the new software features of the new Zune players will be made available to the Zune 30 with a firmware update.

This means the Zune 30 will get the new interface, new codecs, podcasts, Windows Media Center support, WiFi syncing and the new wireless sharing features.

The new firmware should be available later this Fall, perhaps in November together with the availability of the new Zune players. Pretty sweet move from Microsoft.
