SiS and PCTEL have announced a joint partnership to provide complete wireless solutions to consumers, using the SiS162 W-LAN chipset and Segue Soft Access Module (SAM) software. This solution is based on the IEEE 802.11x wireless standard.

PCTEL is dedicated to providing high value wireless software solutions for the wireless Internet access and wireless network monitoring industries. Established in 1994 at the dawn of the Internet age, PC Tel is now recognized as the market leader in its field. With PC Tel's Segue™ SAM software, users have an easy-to-use Windows-based interface for wireless network connections. The flexibility of Segue™ allows it to be used in a home environment with other wireless devices for true WiFi broadband distribution around the home, or in meetings for true WiFi conferencing.

The SiS162 is a single-chip wireless LAN Medium Access Controller (MAC) and Baseband processor (BBP), which fully provides the features and functionality needed for the MAC protocol of the IEEE 802.11b standard. The SiS162 applies the innovative MAC and Baseband core engine architecture and is designed to provide good performance with lower power consumption and enhances the advantages of robust system and cost-performance effectively. It is designed for the use on high volume mobile PC modules, Card Bus adapter cards, USB 2.0 dangles and build-in notebook systems.
