Intel Montevina IGP 3x faster than GM965

In the second quarter of 2008 Intel will launch the Intel GM45 IGP chipset for the notebook market.

This chipset will feature the GMA X4500 graphics chip which offers support for DirectX 10, Shader Model 4.0 and the Intel Clear Video technology to decode HD video. One of the interesting things is that Intel promises the performance of this IGP chipset will be three times higher than the GM965 IGP chipset.
n addition to the GM45, the Montevina platform will also have two entry-level IGP chipsets, the GS45 without built-in HDMI and Display Port support and the GL40 with slower graphics performance. They will be launched a quarter later than the GM45, noted the sources.

Some notebook makers pointed out that in addition to the updated hardware Intel will still need to strengthen its driver development as this is also part of the reason for the poor performance of the company's current IGP solutions.
