FUD Zilla reports AMD's Phenom FX-80 processor will be clocked at 2.8GHz:
The Phenom FX is the show off part that should fight Intel's Penryn 3.0GHz, but the way it looks now Intel's quad core stands a better chance due to its clock and SSE4. 3.0GHz versus 3GHz would be more interesting fight but this won't happen until Q1 and at the same time Intel plans to introduce QX9770 with a 3.2GHz clock and FSB 1600. This one will make AMD run for its money once again.

Both Intel and AMD know that this is now where the money is, in 2.4 or slower parts, this is the sweet spot, and they will probably start a new price war in this particular segment.

Even if Intel wins the high end it won’t be safe in the 2.4 vs. 2.4GHz fight and this one might be a tough one.
