Windows Vista marketshare almost 8%

Posted on Tuesday, November 27 2007 @ 10:01:17 CET by

Windows Vista was released to consumers about ten months ago and according to market research by Net Applications the new operating system from Microsoft had a marketshare of 7.91% in October.

The shares of Windows XP and Windows 2000 add up to 79.07% - 3.16% less than the last time they checked.
The share of systems based on Mac OS decreased to 6.55% in October, down from 6.61% a month before, which may indicate that sales of Apple Macintosh computers were not faster than sales of Microsoft Windows-based systems.

“Other” operating systems, namely outdated Windows versions, Linux OSes and so on, which have been losing market share for many months now, are now used in 3.31% of devices that are used for Internet browsing.
Microsoft hopes Vista will have captured 10% of the market by the end of the year.
