Some new information appeared on the web about upcoming Eee PC models from Asus. DailyTech writes the Eee PC 8G will be available within 2-4 weeks for $499. This model will offer a 8GB SSD instead of only 4GB and will feature twice as much DDR2 memory (1GB).
Dynamism shows the price of the new 8G model at $499 with availability in mid to late December. ASUS gives the users the choice of Pearl White or Galaxy Black with the 8G.

It will be interesting to see how the market accepts a $499 Eee PC. The $499 price point is still hundreds of dollars less than the cheapest 12" ultra-portable notebooks and UMPCs on the market, but $399 appeared to be the sweet spot for the Eee PC.
Another tidbit about the Eee PC is that the system will soon also be available in green. Sky blue and pink models are expected next year.
