NVIDIA has unveiled a new stock cooler for the GeForce 8800 GT graphics card. Expreview
has some photos of the new cooler but from the outside it doesn't really look much different. The cooler has about the same dimensions as the previous 8800 GT cooler but features a 75mm fan instead of a 65mm fan.
In terms of cooling performance the new cooler shaves off 2-3°C but the real reason why NVIDIA changed the cooler is the high noise level of the original 8800 GT cooler.
The new fan is a bit bigger and makes a lot less noise. Expreview doesn't provide any data from a decibelmeter but shows some RPM graphs which indicate that the new cooler runs at a much lower speed.
