Logitech unveiled their new Z Cinéma Advanced Surround Sound System at CES 2008. The speakers feature a piano-black-and-silver design and are bundled with a media center remote with Windows Media Center buttons and a scroll wheel..
To deliver high-performance sound and save space, the Z Cinéma speaker system uses SRS TruSurround HD, which immerses people in surround sound and enhanced movie dialog – without the need for rear speakers. Using only two satellite speakers and a subwoofer, SRS TruSurround HD creates a broad sweet spot around the listener for maximum realism and enjoyment, while providing dialog enhancement in the center channel to ensure that voices are clear and intelligible.

Featuring an audio design typically seen in deluxe, custom stereo setups, the Z Cinéma speaker system uses hybrid amplification to create a more natural, balanced listening experience for a desktop environment. The 180-watt (RMS) Z Cinéma speaker system is powered by a premium three-amplifier design with a digital crossover equalizer. Using hybrid Class D and Class AB amplifiers, the Z Cinéma speaker system realistically reproduces high-, mid- and low-range frequencies. Each amplifier delivers an independent, digitally equalized signal that minimizes distortion and creates a broad soundfield. As a result, no matter where people sit to enjoy their entertainment, the Z Cinéma speaker system provides accurate, crystal clear sound.

To further support a high-performance listening experience, Logitech used laser tuning to design a set of drivers that create far less distortion than those developed using only acoustic measurements. As a result, the one-inch textile dome tweeters, three-inch ventilated midwoofers and eight-inch long-throw subwoofer deliver more accurate frequency response, detail and clarity.

A single USB cable provides a pure, 24-bit digital audio signal, transporting data with minimal distortion. With USB, people can expect simple, no-hassle installation. And because it’s USB, the PC soundcard can be bypassed, which means that the Z Cinéma speaker system can enhance the audio experience for any PC or laptop. No matter what kind of PC setup is present, the Z Cinéma speakers provide high-fidelity sound.

The Z Cinéma speakers also include a convenient headphone jack that enables private listening, and a 3.5 mm auxiliary input that can connect to MP3 players or other audio devices.
This sound system will be available later this month for $299.99.
