Netgear debuts new 802.11n hardware

Posted on Sunday, January 06 2008 @ 22:27:39 CET by

Netgear has released a couple of new wireless-N networking products at CES 2008:

RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router (WNDR3300)
The NETGEAR RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router (WNDR3300) delivers the highest Wi-Fi performance for today’s Wireless-N notebooks and dual-band adapters while providing simultaneous support for legacy 802.11g devices as well as clients based on 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wireless-N and new computers with built-in support for 802.11n draft 2.0 single and dual-band wireless. An integrated array of eight internal antennas and support for 5 GHz Wireless-N, which takes advantage of up to 23 non-overlapping channels and enables the RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router to avoid interference from household appliances, cordless phones and even other neighboring Wi-Fi networks, maximizes wireless performance and range delivering to consumers faster downloads, high-quality media streaming, and better online gaming.

For the most efficient use and sharing of available bandwidth, the WNDR3300 features automatic QoS to prioritize network traffic. This enables seamless performance for a variety of applications such as Internet browsing and downloading, voice, video and gaming applications. Featuring a built-in four-port 10/100 Mbps LAN switch for connecting multiple PCs or devices, the WNDR3300 provides a simple “Push ‘N’ Connect” function that uses WPS to enable simple, secure client connectivity. The NETGEAR RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router (WNDR3300) is backed by a one-year warranty and 24/7 technical support, and is available worldwide via leading retailers and e-commerce sites at a retail price in the U.S. of $129.99.

RangeMax Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WNR3500)
The NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WNR3500) incorporates an ultra-fast five-port 10/100/1000 Mbps switch (one Gigabit Ethernet WAN and four Gigabit Ethernet LAN ports), to deliver the fastest possible wireless-to-wired network performance, and an array of eight internal Antennas to reduce the effects of RF interference and maximize wireless performance and range. Automatic Quality of Service (QoS) ensures reliable support for Internet, voice, video, and gaming applications, enabling users to simultaneously surf the Internet, e-mail, stream high-definition video, make Internet phone calls, and play online games.

The WNR3500 is easy to set-up using NETGEAR’s Smart Wizard Installation CD and makes it simple to establish secure, reliable client connections with “Push ‘N’ Connect” using Wi-Fi Protected Set-up (WPS). The WNR3500 provides a double firewall to protect the network from external hacker attacks, automatically upgrades itself to the latest firmware version and is configurable as a wireless repeater for use as a range extender.

The NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless-N Gigabit Router (WNR3500) is backed by a one-year warranty and 24/7 technical support, and is available worldwide via leading retailers, direct marketers, e-commerce sites, and value-added resellers at a retail price in the U.S. of $159.99.

5 GHz Wireless-N HD Access Point/Bridge (WNHDE111) and HD/Gaming 5 GHz Wireless-N Networking Kit (WNHDEB111)
The NETGEAR 5GHz Wireless-N HD Access Point/Bridge (WNHDE111) can be used as a standalone bridge or can function as a 5 GHz Wireless-N access point when connected to an existing router or gateway. When wired to any existing 802.11b/g wireless router, the WNHDE111 adds high performance 5GHz Wireless-N access-point capability to establish a dual-band network that supports new dual-band Wireless-N clients as well as legacy 802.11b/g clients, enabling users to add, to any existing network, the performance necessary to enable HD video streaming or lag-free gaming over the Wi-Fi compliant 5Ghz 802.11n draft 2.0. The WNHDE111 can also act as a bridge to connect game consoles or media receivers such as the NETGEAR Digital Entertainer HD to a dual-band Wireless-N router like the RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N Router (WNDR3300).

For high-performance network gaming and simultaneous streaming of multiple high-definition videos, the HD/Gaming 5 GHz Wireless-N Networking Kit (WNHDEB111) packages together two WNHDE111 units to provide complete, reliable high performance wireless connectivity between the home network and consumer media devices like Xbox, PlayStation, Wii, TiVo HD, Slingbox, digital and IPTV set-top boxes, NETGEAR’s Digital Entertainer HD, Apple TV, etc. The WNHDEB111 enables consumers to easily establish a reliable high performance wireless connection between the media devices in the living room and the computers and storage devices residing on the home network. The two WNHDE111 units are Plug and Play, auto-configure when connected, automatically discover each other and connect securely, ready to stream high quality HD Video and play high performance online games.

The WNHDE111 uses the 5 GHz Wireless-N band enabling it to avoid interference and deliver more reliable, faster connections, while an internal array of six Smart Antennas maximizes performance and range of the access point. Automatic QoS ensures lag-free gaming, jitter-free streaming of high-definition video content, and crystal clear Internet telephony calls. The WNHDE111 supports a wireless “ad-hoc” mode for wireless LAN peer-to-peer gaming, and multicast point-to-multi-point high-definition video streaming.

Easy to set up and use, the plug-and-play Wireless-N HD Access Point/Bridge automatically configures itself to access point or bridge mode, and utilizes a simple “Push ‘N’ Connect” function to establish secure, reliable communications using Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS).

The NETGEAR 5 GHz Wireless-N HD Access Point/Bridge (WNHDE111) and HD/Gaming 5 GHz Wireless-N Networking Kit (WNHDEB111) are backed by a one-year warranty and 24/7 technical support, and are available worldwide via leading retailers, direct marketers, e-commerce sites, and value-added resellers at retail prices in the U.S. of $129.99 and $229.99, respectively.

RangeMax Wireless-N Dual Band USB Adapter (WNDA3100)
The RangeMax Dual Band Wireless-N USB 2.0 Adapter (WNDA3100) enables users to upgrade their notebook or desktop PCs to dual-band Wireless-N delivering more wireless channels, less interference and better connections. Backward compatible with older 802.11g equipment, the WNDA3100 provides enough bandwidth to support music downloads, file sharing, and high-definition multimedia applications.

Also utilizing patented metamaterial micro-antennas to provide better speed and range than other 802.11n adapters, the WNDA3100 provides reliable connectivity to 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz Wireless-N channels.

The NETGEAR RangeMax Wireless-N Dual Band USB Adapter (WNDA3100) is backed by a one-year warranty and 24/7 technical support, and is available worldwide via leading retailers, direct marketers, e-commerce sites, and value-added resellers at a retail price in the U.S. of $99.99.
