Independent research firm IDC puts Seagate’s worldwide share for 2.5-inch notebook PC and PC-related hard drives for the first three quarters of calendar 2007 at 19%, a share that elevated Seagate to the number two spot.
“In the five years that Seagate has offered hard drives for notebook PCs, it has become a contender for the notebook market share crown,” said John Rydning, research manager for hard disk drives at IDC. “Seagate’s product breadth and customer responsiveness have contributed significantly to the company’s ascent in this market.”
