Today we are finally going to settle the score between the GeForce 8800 GT and the Radeon HD 3870. The battle between these two affordable high-end graphics cards began roughly 2 months ago now when AMD released the Radeon HD 3870, which can now be had at the bargain basement price of $250 US. Priced slightly higher is the Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT, which currently costs around $270 US, yet offers more performance in a single card configuration.

There you have it, a complete comparison between the GeForce 8800 GT and the Radeon HD 3870 in both single and multi-GPU scenarios using 7 popular games. Although the Radeon HD 3870 won less than 10% of the tests conducted in both Crossfire and single modes, what is important here is how much the Radeon lost by. This is because by our calculations the GeForce 8800 GT costs on average 8% more than the Radeon HD 3870. At the moment it looks as though the average Radeon HD 3870 will cost $250 US while the GeForce 8800 GT is more like $270 US per card.
