Posted on Saturday, February 02 2008 @ 10:04:42 CET by

Nikon released three new S-series digital cameras this week.

The CoolPix S210 will be available in March for $180. This camera features a 8 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom and a 2.5" LCD display.
The COOLPIX S210 features Electronic VR Image Stabilization, which is designed to help produce sharper and clearer images, especially in lower lighting conditions or when capturing moving subjects. Users can also take advantage of extended light sensitivity settings as high as ISO 2000. Automatic sensitivity control is also included, which allows users to concentrate on a taking a photo while the camera selects the optimal ISO. To minimize blur, the S210 comes with a High-Sensitivity mode that automatically selects the optimal light sensitivity. The COOLPIX S210 utilizes Nikon's innovative EXPEED image processing system for enhanced noise reduction and improved the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio.
The CoolPix S520 will also be available in March and is priced at $230. It has a 8 megapixel sensor, 3x optical zoom, optical image stabilization and 2.5" LCD.
Incorporating Nikon’s new, innovative EXPEED digital imaging processing system for enhanced noise reduction and improved the signal-to-noise (S/N) ratio, the S520 captures sharp photographs while maintaining image quality and ISO sensitivity up to ISO 2000. Utilizing EXPEED’s power, the S520 also offers new scene modes that help users select the perfect settings for a variety of shooting situations. Making its way into the new line-up of scene modes, Food Mode allows for users to capture beautiful close-up images of food at high ISO settings in restaurants or other locations where flash photography is not permitted.
The CoolPix S550 model features 10 megapixels, 5x optical zoom and 2.5" LCD display. It will be available next month for $229.
A first for the COOLPIX camera line, the S550 will feature Smile mode, which automatically fires the shutter when the subject smiles as well as a Blink Warning, which displays a warning message when the subject has blinked. In addition to the aforementioned features, the COOLPIX S550 incorporates Electronic VR Image Stabilization technology, which is designed to help produce sharper and clearer images, especially in lower lighting conditions or when capturing moving subjects. It also offers high ISO capabilities (up to 2000), ideal for capturing images in low-light situations. For consumers that might be unsure about the correct ISO settings for their photos, the S550 is equipped with Automatic Sensitivity Control and High-Sensitivity Mode, which selects the optimal ISO setting for the environment and automatically adjusts to reduce blur.
