IBM about to launch Power 5 servers

According to US reports IBM is about to show off a range of new servers using the Power 5 processor. The eServer i5 series uses the Power 5, which is expected to be 40% faster than machines using the Power 4.

The eServer i5 runs OS/400 but it has support for Linux and Windows.

Expected availability date is as soon as the beginning of June.
