Acer expects notebooks with Blu-ray drives will account for 10% of shipments this year.
Acer aims to ship 22 million notebooks in 2008, with large-size BD notebooks and low-cost notebooks both regarded as focuses for deployment. Global notebook shipments are expected to grow by 30% on year to surpass 130 million, with BD notebooks to account for 10% of the anticipated amount, Lin said.

Acer updated that it expects to ship 40,000 18.4-inch BD notebooks and 70,000 16-inch BD notebooks in April. For the Taiwan market, Lin said shipments for the former will be 500-1,000 units and the later above 1,200 units. Industry watchers regarded the shipment amounts as indicators that Acer is confident over its BD notebook deployment.
