Sources at MSI and Gigabyte claim the two firms are planning to release their cheap PCs by the end of Q2 2008.

MSI's low-cost PC is named Wind, it will sport 8.9" or 10" LCD displays and these systems will be available in Europe for 299-699EUR. The U.S. prices are unknown, at the current currency exchange rate it would be $470-$1,099 but the real prices will likely be a lot lower.

Motherboard maker Gigabyte is also developing its own low-cost PC and is planning to market these devices with telecommunications vendors. Gigabyte's systems will initially only be available in Taiwan and other Asian markets and the firm expects sales won't have a noticeable contribution to its revenues until the third or fourth quarter.
