Intel is planning to make AMD's life a bit harder by launching cheaper Core 2 Quad Q8000 processors that will compete against the Phenom X3 triple-core processors.

The Intel Core 2 Quad Q8200 processor will be available in Q3 2008, it will be clocked at 2.33GHz and will have a 1333MHz FSB and 4MB L2 cache.

In order to differentiate the chip from the Q9000 processor family Intel will remove VT and TXT technology support. The Q8200 will be priced at $203 in 1,000-unit quantities.
