The price cut of Microsoft's Xbox 360 had a tremendous effect on the sales of the console. Microsoft announced sales have risen 100% and some retailers even report a six-fold increase in Xbox 360 sales!
According to a statement on Kotaku, a number of retailers reported that sales of some of the Xbox 360 SKUs were selling at six times the rate of the previous weekend.

Microsoft cut the price of the Xbox 360 Arcade unit last week to USD 199, while the Core or Premium edition now selling for USD 299 and the Elite unit for USD 399.

The Arcade unit is now the cheapest current generation home console on the market.
