It's been rumoured that AMD might be holding back the upcoming Radeon HD 4850 X2 graphics card. FUD Zilla suggests that now AMD is in a comfortable position again in the GPU market, they might wait patiently on NVIDIA's next move:
The anticipated appearance of the HD 4850 X2, married with GDDR3 memory and, endowed with a claimed price tag of $399, is somewhat of a mystery at this time, states this article from Fudzilla.

It is believed that with its behemoth brethren, the HD 4870 X2, selling well and not experiencing any shortages, the delay in launching the HD 4850 X2 is a tactical one on the part of Sunnyvale, CA based AMD.

We surmise that with NVIDIA's 55nm GTX 280 + offering in the works, AMD may use the price to performance ratio of its HD 4850 X2 part, to put a spoke in NVIDIA's wheels - Yet again.
