Demand for LED backlighting in the notebook market has picked up as fast as expected this year, with penetration estimated at an average of less than 10% for the whole year, the observers said.Dell recently announced it intends to transition 80 percent of its notebooks to LED back-lit displays by late 2009 and 100 percent in 2010.
But with major notebook vendors stepping up their launches of LED-backlit models, penetration will reach 15% in the fourth quarter of the 2008, and momentum will build even faster next year, the observers remarked.
