Market watchers believe 30 to 40 percent of notebooks will feature a LCD display with LED backlighting next year.
Demand for LED backlighting in the notebook market has picked up as fast as expected this year, with penetration estimated at an average of less than 10% for the whole year, the observers said.

But with major notebook vendors stepping up their launches of LED-backlit models, penetration will reach 15% in the fourth quarter of the 2008, and momentum will build even faster next year, the observers remarked.
Dell recently announced it intends to transition 80 percent of its notebooks to LED back-lit displays by late 2009 and 100 percent in 2010.
