Clash of the 1TB HDDs - Hitachi and WD

ExtremeTech compared the 1TB Western Digital RE3 and Hitachi E7K1000 hard drives:
It's true that solid-state drives based on flash memory have come a long ways—witness Intel's X25 SSD drives. It's also true that an 80GB drive will set you back about $600. Meanwhile, you can pick up the spiffy new Western Digital 1TB RE3 drive for about $210. So if you require lots of storage at affordable prices, hard drives are really the only practical solution.

So today we continue our series of reviews of 1TB hard drives. Currently on deck are two contenders, both representing the pinnacle of their respective product lines.
