ExtremeTech reports Intel has set November 17 as the official launch date of the Core i7 processor:
Intel will launch the Core i7 "Nehalem" microprocessor on Nov. 17, according to an emailed invitation sent Wednesday to reporters.

Intel's invitation claims that the chip will be "the fastest processor on the planet". Intel has based its claim on the SPECint_rate_base2006 benchmark, which will apparently be highlighted at the event, to be held in San Francisco.
