Mio's GPS handset will be powered by 3.5G chipsets from Qualcomm and will also come with Mitac self-developed touch user interface, the Spirit, said the sources, noting that the GPS handset will also feature a built-in 3.2-megapixel auto-focus camera.DigiTimes also writes Mio will release a GPS Mobile Internet Device (MID) in March 2009, this device will have a 7" or 8" LCD display, 3G support and Windows CE.
The launch of Mio's 3.5G GPS handset will probably run ahead of the planned launch of the Nuvifone handset by rival vendor Garmin slated in the first half of next year, according to estimates of market sources.
