AMD refuted rumors that The Foundry Company was planning to build a new fab in China or cooperate with local Chinese players for foundry services.
The Foundry Company was rumored in various local Chinese-language media reports to have recently gone to Shandong, China to evaluate the possibility of building a new fab in the region and that the company had made contact with the Jinan city government in Shandong to discuss partnership opportunities.

The rumors may have sprung from aggressive local media misunderstanding a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that AMD signed with the Shandong government earlier this year concerning cooperation on chip development, technology exchange and education.
