Acer has unveiled the P224W, a 22" LCD display with DisplayLink technology so you can easily connect this screen to PCs with a USB port.
Further underscoring the demand for simple USB-based docking solutions, Acer has selected DisplayLink Corp.’s USB graphics technology as a key component in Acer’s first monitor with a matching multimedia dock.

Part of Acer’s P4 consumer display series for media applications and games, the 22-inch Acer P224 monitor comes with a powerful multimedia dock designed to augment and simplify a user’s computing experience.

While the dock’s Dolby® Virtual Speaker technology delivers outstanding digital audio for a surround-sound experience, and a USB hub provides easy connectivity to all peripherals, including USB monitors, at the same time. Optimal multi-functional lets people watch movies, surf the web, or listen to music with the convenience of just one USB connection from their netbooks or notebooks to the monitor/dock.

"Acers 22" notebook upgrade kit has been developed as the perfect workstation solution for mobile users who require one-step connectivity to their media and work devices,” said Oliver Ahrens Business Director for Display Products at Acer EMAA. “At Acer we are dedicated and continuously looking for methods to simplify and enhance the mobility of our notebook users, our P224W notebook upgrade kit is the perfect work and media solution for SoHo users requiring expanded multimedia and multi-functionality.”

DisplayLink’s USB graphics chips and software allow high-performance, no-compromises graphics to be displayed via the simple snap of a USB connection, making it easy to connect a laptop to a docking station or to enable multi-monitor computing without the need to install discrete graphics cards. In addition to the P4 Series, Acer also relies on DisplayLink’s innovations to bring multi-monitor capabilities to the recently launched Acer B Series of monitors for office use.

The Acer P224W widescreen display features a contrast ratio of up to 10,000:1, a resolution of 1680 x 1050, and a response time of 5 milliseconds. The Acer P224W is also equipped with a VGA and a USB connection.
