Rumor: NVIDIA ordered 10,000 Samsung 120Hz displays

FUD Zilla heard whispers that NVIDIA has pre-ordered the first 10,000 3D displays from Samsung as it wants to push its GeForce 3D Vision technology.
The same sources indicate that Nvidia insisted on these monitors a few months before Samsung originally wanted to start selling them, making them available in first weeks of Q1 2009, while Samsung's original plan was to ship these monitors at least a few months later. Since you need at least 120Hz to make this technology work, Nvidia had to order the first 10,000 monitors from Samsung and rush the release plans of this new technology.

Despite Nvidia's promise that 120HZ monitor will cost roughly 10 to 15 percent more than a standard 60Hz monitor, in reality 120Hz monitors are selling more than two times the price of “normal” 22 inch 1680x1050 display. The cheapest 22inch we found listed at newegg, here, sells for $159.99, including shipping, while Nvidia charges $598 for glasses and Samsung's SyncMaster 2233RZ 120Hz monitor. Since the glasses are $199 the monitor sells for a saucy $399.
