Earlier this month Intel released energy-efficient versions of some of its quad-core Core 2 processors; the Q9550s, Q9400s and Q8200s. According to VR Zone, the chip giant plans to do the same with the upcoming Core i5 lineup.

The first Core i5 "Lynnfield" processors are slated for August or September, these models will have a TDP of 95W, and in Q1 2010 some of these chips will receive 65W counterparts.
This enables quad core scalability for 65W optimized platforms and allows quad core performance to Small Form Factor and All In One market segments. As such, the low power quad core are priced at a premium to their similarly clocked counterparts. There are plans to release Q8300s in Q2 2009 and low power Lynnfield in Q1 2010.
