Intel accidentally leaked details about a 3.5GHz dual-core Core 2 processor on its website. An entry in the company's processor database, which was already deleted at press time, reveals the company may be planning to release a faster 45nm Wolfdale chip.

The processor is named Core 2 Duo E8700 and it will offer a clockspeed of 3.5GHz, 6MB of cache, 1333MHz FSB and 65W TDP.

Pricing or availability is unknown - but it will be more than $270, the price of the 3.33GHz Core 2 Duo E8600. That is assuming the information is correct, it's possible that this was not a leak but just a mistake.
