DigiTimes wrote a couple of days ago that Acer aims to increase its global notebook marketshare 2 to 3 percentage points this year. The firm aims to improve its performance in markets with high shipment growth potential and boost its shares in its major markets.
Wang pointed out that China, Japan and the US are three markets with high shipment growth potential for Acer this year and the company will work on enhancing its performance there.

Currently, Acer has around 30% of most of its major markets, and the company hopes to boost the share to 40-50% in 2009, Wang added.

Wang expects the company's consolidated revenues in the first quarter of this year will be on par with the level in the same period of last year, but gross margins will drop slightly to 2-3% due to the decline in notebook average selling prices (ASPs).
