Guru3D has an exclusive preview of the ATI Radeon HD 4750, this card uses the 40nm RV740 GPU. The site benchmarked the card and reports it's almost as fast as the Radeon HD 4850, but the 4750 will be much cheaper at a price of around $99 (89EUR). You can check out the full preview over here.
The RV740 is a 40nm chip with 640 stream processors, 32 texture units and 128-bit memory bus. It has a 650-700MHz core and 512MB GDDR5 memory clocked at 3200MHz.
The performance comes close to the Radeon HD 4850, but unfortunately the tester didn't provide any numbers on heat, noise, and power consumption because the card he received was an engineering sample and thus not representative for the performance of the retail version which should arrive in April.
It's the worlds first article on a 40nm based graphics card, it embeds the RV740 ASIC and is due to be released in April. For the sake of it we'll name this product the Radeon HD 4750, it comes with a 40nm core, 640 shader processors and pack GDDR5 memory.
So here's the deal, performance wise the product is awfully close to the Radeon HD 4850, yet the trick is .. it'll be so much cheaper.
