LCD panel maker AU Optronics (AUO) is gearing up for the release of Microsoft Windows 7 in the second half of 2009, and the company is working with its subsidiaries, including color filter (CF) maker Cando and system maker Qisda, to take full advantage of Windows 7 multi-touch features, according to market sources.
Windows 7's multi-touch function makes touch panels a necessary component for applications for the system, the sources noted. With the successful experience of capacitive touch panel with iPhone, notebook vendors are now looking for suppliers who can provide integrated services for developing capacitive touch panels for Windows 7, the sources explained.
