Samson Hu, general manager of Asustek's Eee PC business unit, says that while there are currently no mass production plans for non-Intel Atom based netbooks, his company is definitely evaluating the possibility of developing netbooks based on the Qualcomm SnapDragon platform.
Asustek has separated its Eee PC business into three major groups: high-end netbooks priced over US$400 such as the S101 and S101H; mainstream netbooks priced at US$299-399 such as the 1000HE and upcoming 1008HA; and entry-level netbooks price under US$299 which are mainly 8.9-inch models, noted Hu.

In a clarification to earlier reports, Hu said the company will not completely phase out 8.9-inch netbooks in 2009 but will continue to produce small amounts for telecom and government procurement markets.
