Samsung will enter the 21.5" Full HD LCD display panel market, a segment that is currently supplied by AUO, LG Display and Chunghwa Picture Tubes.
Samsung will use its 8G (2,200mmx2,500mm) production line to cut 21.5-inch monitor panels, with an efficiency of 92%, or 35 panels, per substrate, the sources noted, adding that AUO, LGD, and CPT are using 6G (1,500mmx1,850mm) production lines to cut 21.5-inch panels, with 18 units per substrate.
DigiTimes also wrote today that Chi Mei Optoelectronics (CMO) will also develop 21.5" LCD panels. This firm currently pushes 21.6" panels for both the monitor and TV market.
