Intel Core i7 975 and 950 to arrive on May 31

DigiTimes breaks news that Intel will introduce a couple of new processors and cut prices of old processors in the second quarter of this year. Average price reductions will be around 10-20 percent.

On April 19th there will be two new processors; the $183 Core 2 Quad Q8400 (2.66GHz) and the $245 Core 2 Quad Q8400S (2.66GHz), the latter one is a more energy-efficient model. On the same date the chip giant will also cut prices of the Core 2 Quad Q9300, Q9550S, Q9400S and Q8200S. Each chip will drop between 13-20%.

No price cuts are planned for May, but five new processors will be introduced on May 31st. This includes the 3.33GHz Core i7 975 for $999 and the 3.06GHz Core i7 950 for $562. Additionally, there will also be a $133 Core 2 Duo E7600, $84 Pentium Dual-Core E6300 and $53 Celeron Dual-Core E1600.

A week or two later on July 19th another five processors will get their prices axed, with price cuts ranging from around 11-19 percent. This includes the Core 2 Quad Q8300, Core 2 Duo E7500, Pentium Dual-Core E5400, Pentium Dual-Core E5300 and Celeron Dual-Core E1500.
