Posted on Monday, April 20 2009 @ 20:31:45 CEST by

TC Mag writes AMD is planning to debut the DirectX 11 RV870 in August, this chip will likely be made on a 40nm process by TSMC.
With DirectX 11 scheduled to debut in the second half of this year, both Nvidia and AMD are working on new GPUs to fully support the upcoming API yet only one will get to claim the "world's first" title and, according to recent rumors, it'll be AMD. Likely manufactured on TSMC's 40nm node, the RV870 GPU is said to be ready in July, with the first products based on coming in August.
