Forbes reports that Microsoft is doing efforts to beat Apple's iPod in the online music market.
Microsoft's MSN music service began a free song promotion yesterday sponsored by American Express. As the holiday shopping season nears, Apple is also stepping up its marketing efforts. Last month, Apple and rock band U2 announced a deal to sell customized iPods.
