NVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang said to the press that there's no truth to the rumors that his company is planning to invest in VIA. Huang says the chipmaker's current relationship with VIA only extends to cooperation on the Ion 2 platform.
Huang also pointed out that several PC vendors are currently testing products using Nvidia's Ion platform with Intel's Atom CPUs, adding that Ion is expected to become one of Nvidia's major growing product lines.

Microsoft is preparing to expand DirectX with the new DirectX Compute Shader API (which will give software developers more tools to directly harness GPU resources to perform calculations beyond those related to visuals and graphics, for example physics and AI) around the same to as Windows 7 is introduced, Huang said he believes the new API will create demand for higher GPU performance and will give Nvidia advantages over its competitors.
