Apple iPod to become gameplatform?

Some rumours are spreading that a company named Digital River is developing a technology to download games onto the next version of Apple's iPod.
In fact some analysts have suggested that although Digital River might sign a deal with someone important soon, names touted have included Microsoft, Computer Associates and game makers such as Electronic Arts and Activision.
