VIA first quarter revenue more than halved

Chip maker VIA announced its first quarter financial results:

VIA Technologies, Inc, a leading innovator of power efficient x86 processor platforms, today announced financial results for the first quarter of 2009.

Net sales for 1Q'09 were NT$ 1,282 million, compared to 1Q'08 sales of NT$ 2,683million. Net income for the two quarters were negative NT$ 227 million and negative NT$ 481 million respectively; based on the weighted average shares outstanding of 1,291.517 million shares and 1,309,237 million shares, earnings per share were reported as negative NT$0.18 for 1Q'09, up from negative NT$0.37 for the same period last year.
