Compal beats Quanta in notebook market

DigiTimes reports Compal was the biggest notebook shipper last month with 2.7 million units, surpassing Quanta Computer's 2.3 million units and Wistron's 1.9 million units mainly thanks to the popularity of netbooks.
In addition to netbooks, notebook orders from Compal's clients in North America also helped the company increase its shipment from the 2.6 million units recorded in March.

Quanta's notebook shipments in April declined from the 2.7 million units seen in the previous month due to several factors including a shortage of components such as keyboard controller ICs, panels and PCBs, as well the loss of some Apple orders to electronic manufacturing service (EMS) providers.

Wistron also saw its notebook shipments in April drop from the 2.2 million units shipped in March.
