NVIDIA's first 40nm desktop GPU is for OEMs only

Posted on Wednesday, June 03 2009 @ 19:47:37 CEST by

FUD Zilla claims NVIDIA has started shipping to NV218, this is the company's first 40nm desktop GPU but it's only available to big OEMs like Dell and Acer. The site claims there's even a big chance that this new GPU supports DirectX 10.1.
The channel doesn’t have them yet, as the board is an entry level product with a 64-bit memory interface and a 4-layer PCB, so it should be a very inexpensive graphics card. In channel / retail, Nvidia is still selling Geforce 9500 and 9400 as the key chips in this category, both in 55nm.
