SMIC completes 45nm process

EE Times reports Chinese foundry SMIC has produced its first 45nm high-performance "yield lot".
The generic 45-nm (GP) process follows SMIC's ''silicon success'' on its 45-nm low power (LP) technology, which was announced last year. SMIC signed an agreement with IBM Corp. to license its 45-nm CMOS technologies in December of 2007. The technology transfer was completed in March of 2009.

SMIC's 45-nm GP technology is supported by a design-in Spice model and in-house design IP capability that enables customers to begin prototype product design and plan for early time-to-market.
