DDR3 prices up almost 12 percent this month

DRAMeXchange reports the contract price of 1Gb DDR3 memory chips has rallied 11.9 percent to $1.50 in the first half of August. At the spot market, 1Gb DDR3 memory chips are now priced at $2.16.
The average contract price of 1Gb DDR3 chips has continued to rally to US$1.50 in the first half of August, up 11.9% sequentially, according to data gathered by DRAMeXchange. Thanks to the promotion of new ultra-thin notebooks, as well as limited supply from DRAM makers, prices began trending upward in the second half of June.
