DigiTimes reports Qualcomm will not be able to use the Smartbook brand in Germany, due to a restraining order obtained by Germany company Smartbook AG. The latter one was found in 2001 and sells gaming, lifestyle and business notebooks.
Qualcomm has been hit with a restraining order in Germany for using the product name "Smartbook." Smartbook AG obtained the restraining order in the Cologne District Court and in the case of non-compliance a fine of 250,000 euros or arrest for contempt can be issued.

"Internet sites of the German branch office Qualcomm CDMA GmbH, which refer to the US website of Qualcomm, have already been blocked for users with a German IP address", according to Dirk Pick, CEO of Smartbook AG.
