Home Media Magazine reports the Blu-ray Disc Association (BDA) is working on an industry standard in incorporating 3D on Blu-ray Disc.
That minimum standard will require 1080p delivery to each eye and inclusion of 2D versions of content on 3D discs, to insure backwards compatibility for Blu-ray players that can’t handle 3D.

The BDA announced mid-May that it had formed a 3D task force, made up of members from the motion picture, consumer electronics and IT sectors, to establish an industry standard for 3D on Blu-ray. Panasonic has been working on establishing a standard that fits the BDA’s criteria, with glasses that convert two HDMI video streams into one 3D image.
